Vilhelm Renovation – Awards Finalist

This 70s tudor-style home was ready for an update. The clients wanted something fresh and bright without losing the character of the home. We brought in warm wood tones and accented them with soft greys and whites.

On the exterior, we added an attached garage and front veranda. We redid all the siding and brick and added the aesthetic beam details. On the rear deck, we opened up the previously deserted hot tub room and created a new, safe and beautiful space with patio heaters that is ready to be screened-in this spring.

Inside the home, we opened up the kitchen/dining area by removing a wall and adding a larger island with quartz and walnut counters. We added all brand new appliances and opened up the pantry to create a cozy coffee bar.

We added 12 ft sliding glass doors in the family room. We redid the stairs and extended the foyer to a previously uninsulated addition to open up the front entry.

We improved the lighting and increased the size of the windows throughout the home. We reconfigured the laundry room to be more spacious and usable. We doubled the size of the primary ensuite and added a custom-tiled steam shower with built-in bench, anti-fracture membrane and a 100% waterproof Schluter System.

We brightened the whole home by painting it lighter and whitewashing the brick and wood ceiling. To honour the original character of the home, we chose warm wood accents like the ceiling beams and the reclaimed hand-hewn oak mantel. We also redid all the flooring in the home to create consistent flow.
